  • 05-11-2012 Balkans Peace Park Project (B3P) 9-panel traveling Exhibition – The first four panels: A Long Walk for Peace, recount the first trek made by an international group through the cross-border park regions of Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo/a in July of 2003. Members of the Balkans Peace Park Project trekkers sparked an interest in eco-tourism and environmental issues in this magnificently beautiful mountain region that suffered greatly from war, political turmoil and out-migration. The following three panels show further developments on the First Balkans Peace Park (as UNEP have labelled it – they are using this model in the creation of l0 further such cross-border initiatives in the Balkans). The Mission of the Balkans Peace Park Project is to create a trans-national, cross-border park in the adjoining mountain areas of Kosovo/a, Montenegro and Northern Albania, serving as a symbol of peace and cooperation. It will also promote environmental conservation while stimulating local employment and sustainable visitor activities in the region.
